Capacity Development for Groundwater Management (2025)
Venue : Sierra Leone
Sierra Leone implemented a World Bank–supported training programme to strengthen national groundwater management. A total of 30 WASH professionals from key water institutions received intensive instruction in borehole design, drilling, and resource management. The initiative combined classroom training, hands-on drilling of two boreholes in Kambia District, and ongoing coaching during the construction of 22 additional boreholes for community supply, irrigation, and groundwater monitoring. The programme enhanced technical capacity and supported sustainable water resource management nationwide.
