4th Asia – Pacific Water Summit


Venue : Kumamoto-Japan  

The 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit (4th APWS) will be held in Kumamoto City, Japan, in which high-level delegates including heads of states and representatives from international organizations in the Asia-Pacific region will discuss various water-related issues. The date of the conference remains to be determined. 

The objective of the summit is to raise the priority of tackling water security issues highlighted in the development agenda in the Asia-Pacific region in order to improve people's livelihoods and the environment.

APWS works collaboratively with a wide variety of water-related organizations, including OIC Member States of the Asia-Pacific region, to build capacity and enhance cooperation while boosting investment at the regional level and beyond.

Under the theme of “Water for Sustainable Development – Best Practices and the Next Generation”, the outcomes of the 4th APWS discussions on how to implement the recommendations given in the Yangon Declaration are expected to make a great contribution to lead the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

14 OIC Member States namely; Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan along with 35 other countries are expected to participate in the Summit.
