INWRDAM Symposium on “Working Together for a Water-Secure Future”

Venue : Amman, Jordan

The Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM) conducted a symposium on the theme of “Working Together for a Water-Secure Future” on 09 February 2020 in Amman, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The main objectives of the symposium were as follows:

  • Use case study-based discussions to develop a 5-year transboundary water management vision to be adopted by INWRDAM.
  • Develop a road map for enhancing the resilience of local communities in vulnerable basins.
  • Develop a 5-year action plan and partnerships to achieve the OIC water vision objectives.

This symposium is driven by the commitment of INWRDAM towards the OIC water vision 2013-2025 which was adopted by the 2nd Islamic Conference of Water Ministers held in March 2012 in Istanbul, the Republic of Turkey, and calls for knowledge sharing; collaborative activities, policy and management support and efficient management of transboundary basins.

The event was attended by INWRDAM Member States’ focal points and Ambassadors to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, together with professionals in the field of water management, Jordanian Ministers of Water, Environment, Agriculture and selected Presidents of Jordanian Universities where they discussed the achievements and future plans of INWRDAM for the benefit of OIC Member States.

INWRDAM’s mission is to promote awareness, shape political commitment and stimulate action on critical water issues on all levels. It also aims to support high-level decision making while facilitating the efficient preservation, protection, growth and development for the equal benefit of human dignity and the ecosystem.
