Within the framework of the SESRIC Water Resources Management Capacity Building Program (Water-CaB), and in collaboration with the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), the Centre organised a two-day workshop on “Water Governance and Integrated Water Management for Lake Chad Basin Countries”. The purpose of the workshop was to enhance knowledge, skills and increased collaboration among OIC member countries, particularly in water governance and integrated water management in the Lake Chad Basin region. Featuring subject matter experts from Algeria, Benin, Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Niger, and Türkiye, these sessions offered valuable opportunities to enhance understanding and adapt strategies in water management. Emphasizing the importance of technology amidst digital advancements, the workshop highlighted innovative approaches to improve water resource management. The aim of the workshop was to address critical issues surrounding the sustainable use and management of water resources in the region. Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) was a focal point, exploring holistic approaches that balance the competing demands of various stakeholders while ensuring water sustainability.
