National Water Policy Advances 2025 Water Access Goals

Venue : Cameroon

Cameroon has renewed its commitment to expanding safe water access through its National Water Policy, which aligns with the country’s 2020-2030 development strategy. Building on the Vision 2025 target of 75% access, the new framework aims for 100% urban and 85% rural coverage by 2030. During the 2025 World Water Week, the government, supported by UNICEF, held a national workshop to promote the policy and mobilize stakeholders. A sector analysis highlighted ongoing challenges related to water risks and weak coordination. The policy therefore emphasizes Integrated Water Resources Management, improved access to drinking water and sanitation, ecosystem protection, and strengthened governance.
