Nianija Bolong Water Resources Mobilization Project (PROMOREN)

Senegal has officially launched the Nianija Bolong Water Resources Mobilization Project (PROMOREN) in Koungheul. Led by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation through OLAC, the project targets the Koungheul and Koumpentoum areas at the heart of the Kaffrine region. Aligned with #VisionSenegal2050, PROMOREN aims to strengthen water availability in a climate-affected region. The initiative plans to mobilize 46.6 million m³ of fresh water annually, stop saltwater intrusion from the Gambia River, develop 12,000 hectares of land each year, and create 30,000 jobs. It will also support ecosystem restoration and bolster community resilience.
